Since 1997, PAWS Chicago has been on a mission to transform Chicago into a “No Kill” city where pets are no longer destroyed because they are homeless. Through PAWS Chicago’s work in the community, the number of homeless pets killed per year has dropped from more than 42,000 to less than 19,000, representing a decrease of more than a 50 percent.

For the upcoming PAWS Chicago black-tie fundraiser, “Fur Ball“, which takes place this Friday at the Drake Hotel in Chicago, we have donated one of our 100% electric motor scooters to be sold during the live auction portion of the dinner program. The entire proceeds from the auctioned scooter will go directly to help PAWS Chicago continue fulfilling its mission of creating a solution-based approach to animal welfare.

Since 1893, the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) has opened its doors each year to welcome public safety officers from around the world to meet and learn about the newest and most advanced technologies for the law enforcement industry. This past weekend marked the start of the 116th annual conference in Denver, Colorado, and once again, the turnout is expected to include over 15,000 law enforcement professionals.

2009 is the first year that we will be exhibiting at the conference with our public safety distributor, Lund Industries. Not only do we believe that the show provides an excellent opportunity to meet industry leaders, but it also offers a unique platform for showcasing our newest vehicle offering, the Xtreme Green police motorcycle. This motorcycle offers the power and reliability of the X Rider, but also incorporates a police package, which includes official black and white police livery, flashing LED lights, added side storage compartments, and a police siren.

In addition to our police motorcycle, we are also exhibiting our Sentinel Police Mobility Vehicle (PMV). For those that are unfamiliar with the Sentinel PMV, it is one of our leading electric vehicles. We designed the Sentinel specifically to improve officer and security patrol in highly populated areas, such as urban neighborhoods, airports, indoor and outdoor malls, college campuses, parks, and business districts. Each PMV can travel at speeds approaching 29 miles per hour and has a range of up to 80 miles per charge. With an operational cost of just one cent per mile, the Sentinel is easily one of the most cost-effective, efficient, and reliable vehicles available to the law enforcement industry.

According to Golf Digest, the odds of winning a hole-in-one contest are 12,750 to 1. So when we got news that someone had sunk a hole-in-one during the Joseph Academy annual foundation golf outing last week, we were thrilled. What made it even more special for Xtreme Green was that we had donated an X Rider as the hole-in-one prize.

For those that are unfamiliar with Joseph Academy, the Academy was founded in 1983 to serve children and adolescents with behavioral, emotional and learning disorders by helping them develop the social, academic and vocational skills they need to function successfully in society. Our close connection with the school and several members of its dedicated faculty is what led to our involvement in the golf outing.

We would like to extend a hearty congratulation to Mike Flynn, an avid golfer and first time “hole-in-winner”. We hope you enjoy your new X Rider.

This week, we will be exhibiting our X Rider electric motorcycles and Sentinel police mobility vehicles at the Police Security Expo in Atlantic City, New Jersey. This conference is one of the premier shows in the country and is now celebrating its 23rd year.

As of today, we are officially integrating a new proprietary propulsion system into the X Rider, which will transition the 40AH/4KW brushless hub motor to a 60AH/4.5KW brushless hub motor. This upgrade will now push the X Rider to over 6KWH [60AH x 4.25 volts x 24 batteries], making it what we believe to be the most powerful electric propulsion system for a motorcycle commercially available.

The news gets even better. Because of the higher wattage, the X Rider now qualifies under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 for a $3,334 plug-in electric vehicle tax credit.

Because we are maintaining the cost of the X Rider at $7999, this upgrade would bring the net cost of the X Rider (after federal tax credits) down to $4,665 and could be even less depending on the owner’s state of residence.
